Last weekend was memorable for Asin. Her generation Bol Bachchan touched Rs102 Crore and joined Bollywood’s exclusive Rs 100 Cr club. For the woman from Kochi it's nothing new as Bol Bachchan is her fourth film after Ghajini, Ready and Housefull 2 to sign up for the elite club.Asin now shares the highest spot with Kareena Kapoor who too has four films that figure within the 100 Cr club- 3 Idiots, Golmaal 3, Bodyguard and RA One. Asin in an earlier interview had said: “I'M not bothered about numbers, I am happy that it happened with my films. It isn't that I USED TO BE expecting it to happen; it's not in my hands. I enjoyed doing my part”.
Today Asin, is the largest success story of a lady who made her debut in south Indian films making it big in Bollywood. Down south she has an amazing strike rate on the box-office. Nearly 90 % of the flicks which she has acted in Tamil and Telugu over a period of 5 years were super hits.
In Bollywood out of 5 releases (Ghajini, London Dreams,Ready, Housefull 2 & Bol Bachchan) just one has failed. Today four of her films feature within the Rs 100 Cr club, that's simply amazing.Asin in an exclusive interview to PTI said: “I am happy I'VE come this far here (Bollywood) alone without godfathers, grandfathers or millionaire boyfriends. It's rare for an artist to get acceptance by the north in addition to the south audiences, and i've thankfully managed that.”
Her detractors say that she had “oodles of luck on the box-office.” But industry pundits believe that this can be a combination of constructing the precise choices of industrial films, labor and fiery determination to achieve the highest. Asin remains to be some of the hottest actors within the endorsement circuit, an explanation that she has tremendous reach and goodwill some of the millions.
