The golden oldies like Karnan when it was re-released in digital format became a success. Added to those recent small films like Aranya Kandam, MUK and others are planning a re-release.The golden oldies re-releases are enjoying a tight run on the box-office because of the nostalgia factor. But recent releases that have come as re-releases haven't been capable of benefit from it. But the next two months won't have any major star releases, so there's still an outlet for re-releases.
Now the newest we hear is that a groupof Ajith fans on the web wants his 2007 classic Vishnuvardhan directed Billa to re-release on May 1, the star’s birthday. They feel that Billa a perfect hit which had Ajith, Nayanthara and Namitha, has potential for a re-release.
Ajith has an enormous fan base in social networking sites and after the success of Mankatha, they're on a high. The fans were expecting Ajith’s Billa 2 to release across the time of his birthday.
The producer of Billa 2, Sunir Kheterpal had announced it with much fanfare earlier. However as a result of strike and other factors the film got delayed and it look more likely to be a June release.
The fans of the actor need to have something to celebrate his birthday, hence the cry for re-release of the unique Billa.
