While Ajith may well be delivering the most efficient Openings among our stars in Tamil Nadu, that certainly doesn’t appears to be the case in relation to global dominance. The actor’s recent film, the hugely-hyped (and heavily panned) sequel to Billa, Billa II, has not even collected Rs 1 crore in both the U.S. and the UK, which can be some of the major overseas centres for Tamil films.
As per trade analyst Taran Adarsh, “In its opening weekend, Billa II collected £ 72,120 (Rs 61.20 lakh) from 20 screens, with the per screen average figuring out to £ 3,606, within the UK and Ireland. Within the US, the film collected $ 1,18,509 (Rs 64.83 lakh) on 31 screens, with the per screen average figuring out to a paltry $ 3,823.” In fact, the united states opening was even lesser than that of the star’s earlier film Mankatha!
Now, after three weeks after release the cumulative total in both these countries continues to be hovering around Rs 90 lakh and is unlikely to achieve Rs 1 crore, which should come as an enormous disappointment because they've a vital collection of audience for Tamil films and in addition for the reason that film was released on a record choice of screens for an Ajith film.
Looks like Ajith still has some distance to head within the global arena before he will also be rightfully crowned as King Of Opening.
