Basking within the glory of Paruthiveeran, which won her a countrywide Award for her portrayal of village girl Muththazhagu, admits she was kept totally at nighttime in regards to the climax by director Ameer Sultan.“The climax of the film, where I ask Karthi to cut me into pieces as I'M already dying, was not revealed to anybody up until we shot the scene. Ameer made it some extent that even the cameraman and his assistant were kept at the hours of darkness in regards to the climax. It took us a fair ten to 15 days to complete shooting the climax,” Priyamani reveals.
She confesses that it was this part of surprise maintained by the director that allowed to provide an unihibited performance within the film.
The Paruthiveeran actress also recalls it was director Bharathiraja who she first called after winning the National Award.
“The first call I made after winning my first National Award was to Bharathiraja sir, who gave me my first break in Kollywood with Kangalal Kaidhu Sei. Much more heartening was the response I got from Balu Mahendra sir, who said his daughter had made him proud,” she gushes.
The actress will next be seen in Charulatha, a bi-lingual release in Tamil and Kannada, where she plays the role of conjoined twins.
