Women power to the fore

In Tamil cinema, just a only a few women have made it as directors. Joining the list is Lakshmi Ramakrishnan. Known for her character roles, Lakshmi is set with release of her maiden directorial venture Arohanam.Speaking concerning the film, she says, ‘the quintessence of the film is a sequence of enthralling and amusing events that happen on a single day, but render revelations to a life-time that follows.’ ’The main plot revolves across the seek for the missing mother of a 17-year-old boy and his sister.The journey takes us through flashes in their life and plenty of colours of the mom’s character. Whether or not they find her and what happens forms the climax of the film’.

The lead cast includes Sampath, Jayaprakash, Viji Chandrashekar, Marimuthu, Abinay , Raji Vijayasarathy, Uma Padmanabhan, and two debutants, Jai Quehaeni and Veeresh. The film is produced A V A Productions ( A V. Anoop) and co-produced by Monkey Creative Labs Pvt Ltd. The film was bought outright by JSK film Corporation (J Satish Kumar). Written and directed by Lakshmi Ramakrishnan, the movie has cinematography by Shanmugasundaram, music by K and editing by Aadukalam-fame Kishore.
