Story: A close-knit family involves the verge of break-up after the mysterious death of Marakatham’s (Vadivukarasi) daughter. Rasathi (Jahnavi) is thus forced to chop ties with Mani ( Dilip Kumar), her aunt Marakatham’s son. The following anguish inside the family forms the movie’s plot.Movie Review: Director Balu Malarvannan has stitched together a film in regards to the negative reinforcement of superstitions among people in villages but a dated storyline, when clubbed with substandard performances behind and in front of the camera, can only produce a disaster. Malarvannan gets even didactic at points when Marakatham admits that she was careless in mistaking the psychological trouble together with her daughter for a curse. Within the end, not just does he fail to provide an explanation for what he got down to achieve but additionally loses track, and turns the film into an advertisement for glycerine.
While there is not any high point within the film, the list of lows is long. One such point is when Mani goes directly to dance in a fast number while mourning the death of his sister. Done with the song, he goes back home to shed tears together with his mother.
To sum up, “ Oththa Veedu” is a woefully melodramatic movie “full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.”
