Today (May 4), Trisha celebrates her birthday.
It’s been 10 years since Trisha appeared on screen and the south took to her like white takes to colour. It’s truly been a spectacular journey dotted with hits, flops, controversies and the works. Some other actor in her place would has been yelling from the rooftop about her superstar status even after a decade within the industry. But Trisha prefers to play it cool.
Her Telugu film Dhammu released last week is a winner and she’s got a couple of aces up her sleeve. No hyperboles about her upcoming ventures. On this exclusive chat toSridevi Sreedhar, Trisha opens up.
Here’s wishing you an overly happy birthday from Sify team? Thanks a ton and that i thanks all from the ground of my heart for the entire love, encouragement criticism and brickbats that you've showered on me (Laughs) . It has made me a greater person.
What are your birthday plans?
You had said sometime back that you're uninterested of doing glamour roles in mass commercial potboilers but Dhammu was one more film within the same genre. Please comment?(Smiles) Dhammu is an ordinary mass minimum guarantee fun film and that i always enjoyed working in such genre. Please don’t forget that it was these types of films that made me what I'M today. And if I'M still there in such films, even after 10 years, I FEEL it's an honour. I NEED to do good work and balance my roles in various genres.
Do you spot yourself part of cinema your entire life?I cannot answer this because tomorrow you’ll point fingers at me. Every year, I evolve. On the onset of my career I’d considered giving myself 10 years within the industry. That is my 10th year and I’m still enjoying it. I’m not likely anywhere.
How do you take care of negativity? What keep you grounded?I keep personal out of professional I don’t think you must confuse your professional equations along with your personal ones. I AM GOING back home to those who don't seem to be involved with my work. My friends don't have anything to do with my job.
Okay, what’s your relationship status?I am not talking about it (wink)
What is your birthday gift?I got myself a Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan , a white one. My mom has a surprise gift for me after I get back.
What are your future films? I am currently shooting for Vishal’s Samar, a trendy action entertainer. Might be starting a romantic musical with Jiiva for director Ahmed this month. A Ravi Teja film and Jayam Ravi’s Boologam are at the anvil. So my hands are full for the year.
