It is the second one Friday of May, considered within the trade because the ‘Big Friday of summer holidays’. Traditionally big movies have always released throughout the second week of May, giving it a clean three weeks before schools reopen.
May 11 will see the solo release of UTV Movies Sundar C directed comedy riot Kalakalappu. The theatres has been falling over one another looking to screen Kalakalappu, which have been snapped by distributors at fancy rates.
Kalakalappu got nearly 255 screens in Tamil Nadu, a large release for a movie which has Vimal, Mirchi Shiva, Anjali, Oviya and notably Santhanam. In Chennai city, it's releasing in 17 screens.
The other big release is the Telugu Pawan Kalyan’s Dabangg remake Gabbar Singh releasing in 14 screens in Chennai city. Malayalam film Diamond Necklace could also be releasing in limited screens.
The big Hollywood film releasing in Chennai with the remainder of the arena is Johnny Depp’s Dark Shadows.
Two small Hindi film for multiplex audiences also are releasing- Dangerous Ishq and Ishaqzaade.
