AR Rahman’s Oscar rendezvous

Oscar winning composer and Chennai’s own AR Rahman performed on the glittering 84th Academy Awards as a part of the Oscar Superband.It was his third outing on the prestigious event. Rahman gave members of the KM Music Conservatory Chamber Choir the thrilling opportunity of performing the vocals for a track featured on a brand new compilation of music centered in this year’s Oscar night ceremony.

The track, a choral rendition of What a good looking World, is featured at the album ‘The 84th Academy Awards — Celebrate the Music’. Rahman’s song Oscar Sangamam, which he wrote for the broadcast, could also be featured at the album.

It is the composer’s interpretation of Hans Zimmer’s theme for the printed and was performed on the awards night to thunderous applause. The KM Music Conservatory Chamber Choir’s vocals were recorded in Mumbai.

“The chance to incorporate the choir at the track came when the maestro was invited to accomplish on the 84th Academy Awards as a part of an ‘All-Star Academy Awards Band’ prepare by the show’s musical director Hans Zimmer,” a source with reference to the KM Conservatory informed DC. The 46-year-old composer had posted an image of his Oscar Superband on Facebook.
