‘Rendavuthu Padam’ crew arrested

CS Amudhan of Tamil Padam fame is making his second film Rendavathu Padam in Pondicherry.Two members of the film crew was arrested for allegedly demolishing a section of a bridge in Pondy, built by the French, while shooting.

The demolished section of the parapet wall of a bridge built by the French in 1840 around the Sankarabarani was destroyed by the unit.

Two members of the film crew were arrested and cases under IPC section 427 (mischief causing damage to the quantity of Rs 50) and section 3 (mischief causing damage to public property) of Prevention of wear to Public Property Act registered were registered against them, police Superintendent Palanivelu said.

This bridge, which was abandoned after the federal government constructed a brand new bridge some years ago, has, however, been utilized by morning walkers, cyclists and people riding light vehicles commuting between Puducherry and Cuddalore.
