Sri Ramakrishna Dharisanam Movie Review

The movie depicts the lifetime of 19th Century mystic Sri Ramakrishna in Bengal.

Making a biopic is a challenge because it requires the director to be true to his subject while looking to keep it interesting for the viewers. Director Dass plays it safe with Sri Ramakrishna Dharisanam and offers us a broad picture at the lifetime of the mystic. It traces the lifetime of Sri Ramakrishna (Sashikumar) from the time he was born Gadadhar in a poor Brahmin family and his disillusions as a clergyman to the time he becomes an influential teacher.

Director Dass has nothing new to supply from the different books at the lifetime of the mystic, but it surely is to his credit that he doesn’t deviate an excessive amount of from the topic to hand. The slow pacing of the movie though is available in the way in which of the viewing experience.

Sashikumar does an okay job but some more effort at the a part of the makeup team may have made a variety of difference. Scenes of Sri Ramakrishna as a temple priest might have been more convincing if the art team had contributed better. Such minor flaws add up taking the sheen out of the movie.

If what you're looking to get a short lived account of the mystic’s life, this one is eminently recommended.
