‘I’ll select my roles with care’

She shot for a handful of movies in numerous languages last year, including the hit Vettai in Tamil. The constant shuttling between industries, languages and sets ended in fatigue that had her down for a couple of weeks. But today, post hours of yoga, a up to date obsession for the actress, Sameera Reddy is about and raring to head. In between rehearsals for a show with Kareena Kapoor, the actress got speaking to CT on life, movies and far moreVedi, Vettai and Tezz…Last year was mad with the entire movies in several languages and locations. I’m happy that I STOPPED with Vettai, which had me in a robust character. With that film, I EVENTUALLY felt that I’ve actually gotten the heartbeat and mannerisms of Kollywood. Because the film did well, I got a large number of offers but because the Tamil industry could be very with reference to my heart, I WISHED to pick out and select only the most productive ones and am still taking my time to do so.

But you’re doing a Kannada flick…Yes, that’s because I had promised the producers that I MIGHT take it up and likewise as a result of my conversations with Sudeep in the course of the celebrity cricket matches. The film has shaped up well and it’s another opportunity for me to step right into a new industry.

Sudeep is thought of as hot property now, post Naan EeHe’s an exquisite person to work with and we had a blast engaged on my Kannada project. I’m happy that his talent have been recognized after the success of his latest Tamil-Telugu film and I’m sure he'll go places.

You were down and out for some time last year; what happened then?Well, I USED TO BE shuttling between London and Karaikudi for quite a while. The change in climate took a toll on my health. It’s amazing how we as actors dedicate such a lot effort and time to business that we appear to neglect dedicating time to ourselves. Because of that phase, I lost a large number of big projects including Kamal Haasan’s Viswaroopam. It will has been so prestigious to work on that one! So, this year, I MADE UP MY MIND to hit the pause button on movies and instead devote numerous time to shows and ad campaigns. Also, I did numerous yoga, to be able to stay fit.

So, what’s next?I’ll be starting work on a Telugu project next month, once things are finalized. I’ve also given the go ahead for an experimental film in Hindi, which I’m super occupied with. That’s all I WILL reveal as of now.

What about Kollywood?Chennai is where that gave me Vaaranam Aayiram, considered one of my most special films. I WILL NOT sign any film that comes my way — I’ll select my roles with care and work with only the best.
