Vikram – Shankar combo again?

They delivered a cult commercial hit, ‘Anniyan’ in 2005 they usually appear to be at it again. Commercial film specialist Shankar, if sources are to be believed, might be teaming up together with his ‘Anniyan’ hero Chiyaan Vikram for a project shortly.

It’s reportedly an adventure flick to be able to go on floors once Vikram wraps his slick action entertainer ‘Thaandavam’. Suba, that may be to mention Suresh and Balakrishnan are touted to pen the dialogues and Shankar continues to be penning the script.

Actor Nakul’s next film could be Naan Raja Agiren. The film directed by Prithvi Rajkumar features Chandini, of Sidhu Plus Two fame and Avani Modi, a debutante from Gujarat as leading ladies. Chennai girl is Miss India International 2012

Chennai girl, Rochelle Maria Rao won the Femina Miss India International, 2012 crown. This student of MOP Vaishnav college could also be the more youthful sister of SS music channel veejay, Paloma. Rochelle also won the VLCC Miss Body Beautiful, 2012, Gitanjali Femina Miss Glamourous Diva, 2012, and Liberty Femina Miss Ramp Model titles.

Rochelle has done Chennai proud. Before Miss India happened, Rochelle distinguished herself as a model and anchor. She is currently preparing for her next International beauty pageant and after that like her predecessors before her, she could choose to take the silver screen by storm.

Pooja eyes K-town again

Pooja, after playing a visually-challenged girl in Bala’s Naan Kadavul, is back in action in Kollywood again.The actress, who won numerous acclamation for this role, including a handful of awards, was not seen in another Tamil film for a very long time.

But now, the beautiful girl appears to be getting her due. Pooja have been signed up by Bala for his next, which also stars Atharvaa and Vedhicka. We also hear that the Jithan actress, who's keen to make a comeback of types in Kollywood, will soon join a movie produced by Dhayanidhi Alagiri. The film is probably going to star Arulnithi within the lead.

When contacted, Pooja refused to divulge details on her role in either of the flicks. All she said was, “I’ve just completed a script-narration session and a glance test for a movie to be produced by Dhayanidhi Alagiri’s home banner.”

Let’s hope Pooja can repeat her magic on the BO this time too.

Thaman scores for Delhi Belly remake

The latest buzz within the industry is that composer Thaman have been roped in to attain music for the Tamil remake of Delhi Belly.

The original, with the exception of its explosive storyline, was also within the news for its tracks. The music was composed by Ram Sampath, and had come under the scanner for some daring numbers including Bhaag D.K. Bose…, Nakkaddwaley Disco…, Ja Chudail… and Switty Tera Pyaar…. Now, with Thaman being a part of the Kannan-directed Tamil remake of the film, expectations are riding high.

We also hear that other than Arya and Santhanam, Premgi have been approached to play Kunaal Roy Kapur’s role within the film. While talks are directly to rope in Hansika for Shehnaz’s character, Anjali was offered the role of Poorna Jagannathan. P G Muthiah, another constant in Kannan’s crew, might be handling cinematography.

Vindhya files for divorce

Actress Vindhya, who made her debut within the film Sangamam, had filed for divorce some months ago. While this example was pending within the family court, the actress and her husband Gopalakrishnan alias Gopi filed for divorce under mutual consent. Their divorce can be through after the six-month waiting period.Gopi is actress Banu Priya’s brother. But, the modalities couldn’t be worked out then and Kamal went directly to start work on his ambitious project, Viswaroopam. And now, after almost two years, Ameer is planning to approach the Ulaganayagan again, with hopes of resuming the project.

Talking to CT, Ameer says, “After Aadhi Bhagavan, I’m planning on doing a movie with Kamal Haasan. I had already asked him if he would do a movie with me, and we had even discussed a few scripts. But, we both got busy with our respective projects later.

Now, I’m focusing on completing Aadhi Bhagavan and releasing it by June or even Kamal would have finished his Viswaroopam by then. I CAN soon catch up with him to speak about our next!” Interestingly, Ameer is a self-confessed fan of Kamal, and had even declared that he’d love to assist the ace actor in a single of his directorials. Even Kamal was all praise for the filmmaker’s Paruthiveeran, which fetched him awards on the national level.

PerformanceRahul does a fair work. He emotes well. His romantic escapades with Meera Nandan are worth mentioning. The latter scintillates. She is the saving grace within the film, otherwise clichéd.R V Udhayakumar has brought out the actor in him with the role of Kathirvel.Ganja Karuppu’s comedy is average.

AnalysisIt is a cliched story with old treatment. Had there been more twist and script more cogent, Sooryanagaram would has been different. The movie ends on a dark note.

Now he has touched upon Mahatma Gandhi and his principles in Mudhalvar Mahatma.It harps at the need for good governance and a corrupt-free State.Gandhi Kamaraj plays the lead role which has Anupham Kher within the cast.Music is by Ilayaraja. StoryIn 1948 after his death, Gandhi decides to not visit heaven. He comes back to India. He settles in Tamilnadu and starts spreading his visions and thoughts. Young Siddharth (Sundar) is attracted by his noble thoughts decides to associate himself with him. He propogates Gandhan values within the society and emerges the executive Minister of Tamilnadu.What Mahatma would venture to do to correct the problems which can be plaguing the society forms the rest.

PerformanceKanakaraj plays the role of Gandhi, while Anupam Kher dons the role of Chief Minister who strives hard to reach the visions and concepts of Mahatma. The nature seems more dramatic and so they have tried their best on screen.

TechnicalitiesBalakrishnan has done good research and has harped on a much-needed message. J Mohan camera is sweet while Ilayaraja’s background score fits the theme well.

AnalysisThe movie goes preachier at places and feels like a documentary. Sadly the film doesn’t live as much as all expectations.

KV Anand was in his favourite location

KV Anand’s Suriya’s action packed thriller Maatran shoot is nearly 90% complete, excluding a couple of songs. The large budget extravaganza said to be Suriya’s costliest film is preparing for a June/July release.

Maatran is making news because it promises to be some of the slickest films in recent years. Anand has used Performance capture technology for some action scenes.

However Anand in relation to songs believes in old-fashioned romantic melodies. His combination with Harris Jayaraj has always worked wonders and the pair is now on a hat trick after chartbusters like Ayan and Ko.

Last week, Anand was back in his favourite location near Pune for the shoot of a romantic number which was picturised on Suriya and Kajal. The cameraman turned director loves Wai near Pune comprising of Mahabaleshwar, Dhom lake, Krishna river and valley probably the most prettiest places in India.

This location first caught the eye of Kollywood when Superstar Rajinikanth’s Shankar directed Sivaji’s opening song “Balleilakka…” was shot within the Wai area.

Remember, Anand who was the cinematographer of the film and appeared for a short lived moment within the song, had lensed it beautifully

Trisha as a foreign professional

Trisha is playing Maya, an Indian girl working in a foreign country, in ‘Samaran’, which has Vishal within the lead role. The film is being directed by Thiru, who earlier delivered ‘Theeradha Vilayattu Pillai’.

“What starts as friendship between Vishal and Trisha blossoms into love. Though this sounds cliched, we have now given a distinct treatment to the screenplay,” says the director, who's optimistic concerning the movie’s success.

He adds: “Trisha will dub on her own for Samaran. There may be another heroine, Sunaina. She plays a woman from a rich family in Ooty. There is not any connection between the characters of Trisha and Sunaina as per the script. But there are some interesting things.”

Recently, some crucial scenes for the movie were shot in Ooty. The solid and crew of ‘Samaran’ will soon leave to some of foreign countries to shoot the songs and stunt sequences for this action entertainer.

Jiiva flys europe for shoot

The shoot for Myskkin’s Mugamoodi is going on in full swing. The team is shooting after hours, daily and recently they were mobbed in Triplicane when fans heard that there has been a shoot occurring. Consistent with the newest reports, the unit could be flying off to Europe to shoot the songs within a two week schedule.

Music is by K of Yuddham Sei fame and Jiiva and heroine, Pooja Hegde could be dancing to his tunes. Singer Chinmayi has dubbed for Nayantara for the Tamil version of Telugu film ‘Sri Ramarajyam’, that is set to hit the screens on April 13. While veteran singer SP Balasubrahmanyam has dubbed for protagonist Balakrishna.The mythological film directed by Bapu relies on episodes within the great epic Ramayana, especially after Lord Rama’s Pattabhishekam. Balakrishna has played the role of Lord Rama, while Nayantara as Goddess Seetha.

Dhanush-starrer 3 can’t be viewed illegally: HC

The Madras high court on Thursday restrained telecommunication services, including BSNL, and Internet service and cable TV service providers from telecasting the movie ‘3’ starring actor Dhanush, in an illegal and unauthorised manner through different mediums, including CD, VCD, DVD, cable TV, DTH, internet services, multimedia messaging services, pen drives, hard drives, tapes and conditional access system.Plaintiff R.K. Productions Private Limited contended the movie was produced on the cheap of ` 22 crore and was produced simultaneously in Tamil, Telegu and Hindi.

The film, famous for ‘Kolaveri Di’ song, went directly to become a world sensation.

The telecommunication service providers, Internet service and cable TV providers haven't entered into any license agreement with the applicant on communication of the applicant’s film.

Thus, any act by them in copying, recording, reproducing or communicating the film would amount to infringement of applicant’s copyright, the applicant said.

Three film take care of AR Rahman

Fans of the Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman, who's busy with international projects, needn't feel dismayed.

A source from the studio circle informs us that Aascar Films, who recently announced half-a-dozen flicks, have signed a three-film maintain the maestro.These include Jackie Chan’s Hollywood film, a project with ace filmmaker Shankar (the forged and other details are being worked out) and a film with Dhanush in Bharat Bala’s direction —- which again, could be a multilingual production.

A source from the banner confirmed the scoop to this newspaper and said, “The subjects are all alluring and apparently, all of the films are with biggies, with a purpose to have a pan-Indian appeal.”

Rahman was recently featured at the Forbes India magazine, with pictures from his private collection. It seems like Rahman was proud of the interview as he has tweeted — ‘in conversation with Forbes Life India’, while giving a peek into the chat.

Marriage remains to be on: Ananya

There has rumours that Ananya has postponed her marriage on account of personal reasons.

However, the Nadodigal girl trashes these as rumours and says, ‘My marriage will happen soon but I haven’t fixed the date. I’m currently busy completing my films in Malayalam. After they are done, my wedding might be announced. Why will I GLANCE for film offers after I have my platter full within the Kerala film industry,’ she asks.

Mani Ratnam aims for Deepavali release

With Ravanan creating a lesser impact at the audience director Mani Ratnam is charging his battery for his next film Kadal. The shots are on fast track and the unit feels the film may hit the screens in Deepavali season. After taking a large number of time for roping within the hero and the heroine, Mani is making his efforts to finish the movie on the earliest not later than Deepavali.

KV Anand goes back to his favourite song location

KV Anand’s Suriya’s action packed thriller Maatran shoot is sort of 90% complete, with the exception of a couple of songs. The large budget extravaganza said to be Suriya’s costliest film is making ready for a June/July release.Maatran is making news because it promises to be one of the crucial slickest films in recent years. Anand has used Performance capture technology for some action scenes.

‘Thuppakki’ first look on April 13

Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s AR Murgadoss directed Thuppakki is probably going to return out with its first look on April 13, Tamil New Year day.AR Murgadoss has said thatthe team is shooting round-the-clock in Mumbai and the primary look may be out shortly.

Thuppakki has Vijay playing a police officer who hunts down hardened criminals. Kajal Aggarwal plays the feminine lead. Jayaram plays a personality with shades of grey together with Vidyut Jamwal the opposite bad guy.

Thuppakki produced by veteran Kalaipuli Thanu is making brisk progress and nearly 50 % of the shoot is over. Recently the unit completed a ten day shoot in Bangkok and is now back shooting in Mumbai. The film is scheduled as a Independence day (August 15) release.

Censor Board threatened with A certificate for three

Sources say that the Censor Board officials threatened to certify 3 with a A certificate if some objectionable scenes weren't chopped off. The film made out of some very steamy scenes between Dhanush and Shruti Haasan and the Censor Officials wanted these scenes to be reduce if Aishwarya Dhanush was set on having a U certificate.Since a U certificate would mean entertainment tax sops, the director decided to scissor down those scenes. Bindu replaced with Sunaina in ‘Neer Paravai’

Actress Bindu Madhavi is unlucky for a second time this season. Some problem or the opposite unsettles her.

She have been replaced with Sunaina in ‘Neer Paravai’ directed by Seenuramasamy. Sunaina will start shooting for the award-winning director next month at a coastal village in Tuticorin district. Bindu had acted in ‘Veppam’ and her next film was ‘Kazhugu’ by which she played opposite Kreshna. She has received accolades for her performance in ‘Kazhugu’.

Tamannaah ready for her Bollywood debut

Tamannaah’s ready for her big Bollywood flick, for which she’s in talks with a few leading production houses.

When contacted, Tamannaah’s father states, “We’re in talks with two leading production houses in Bollywood and can sign one in all them within the next couple of weeks.”One of them, the remake of 1983 Jeetendra-Sridevi starrer ” Himmatwala”, will star Ajay Devgn within the lead. “Tamannaah will in all probability play the feminine lead on this film,” says a source, “The movie may be helmed by Sajid Khan and can take off once the solid and crew are finalised.” Interestingly, the actress – who has done several films in Tamil, the last being Venghai with Dhanush – started out her film career with the Hindi flick “Chand Sa Roshan Chehra”.

Tamannaah has recently signed a Telugu flick so that it will see the approaching together of leading director Puri Jagannath and actor Pawan Kalyan after twelve years.

Titled “Cameraman Ganga Tho Rambabu”, the film will star Tamannaah within the lead role. “She is playing the role of Ganga,” tweeted the director recently.

Is Aindrita’s Kollywood debut delayed?

Aindrita Ray have been seeking to make her debut in Tamil cinema for a very long time. Luck didn’t favour her the last time, when she was purported to make her Kollywood debut opposite Nakul in a project that was later called off. The actor had then said that she would venture outside Sandalwood provided that she gets the honour she commands here.Well, it sounds as if she’s got it. The actor was approached for a movie opposite Vinay Rai, to be directed by cinematographer-turned-director Ramesh. In Aindrita’s case, break a leg has turned out to be bad luck indeed. “I’ve been approached to do that film. But IT'S NOT THAT I AM too sure when the film will resume as Vinay has suffered an injury. Talks are still happening and i'm hoping that things will fall into place,” she says.

Meanwhile Vinay, who's recovering from his injury, says, “I’ve been asked to rest for an additional month. I'M keen to work on Ramesh’s project. It was presupposed to roll out in April, but I'LL BE starting work at the project only by the top of May.”

“The film is a family drama and can be set against the backdrop of the U.S.. We're searching for two heroines for the film and need to cast big names for the project. We now have approached Aindrita and things are yet to be finalized. However, we're planning to begin shooting in May. We can leave for the U.S. within the first week of June for the shoot,” says Ramesh.

Sattai:All about education

Khushbu rubbishes rumors of reuniting Prabhu, Nayan

It was just a year ago when the romance between actress Nayanthara and choreographer-director-actor Prabhu Deva was probably the most talked-about topic in K-Town. Today, because the couple have chosen to part ways, there’ve been speculations galore. the most recent being that actress-politician Khushbu will play mediator to the two.Reports recently have suggested that Khushbu could be the only playing mediator between the 2 former lovers, who also happen to be her good friends. Karikaalan back with a bang

Young Ajith’s first look from Billa 2

The first look of young Ajith, who's playing David in Billa 2, was out on Wednesday.

The film, that's a prequel to Billa and directed by Chakri Toleti, will take care of the adventure of a tender and innocent David from Tuticorin and his transformation into the international don, Billa.In the ad, it looks as if Ajith, who's carrying a kerosene can, is playing a Sri Lankan refugee who escapes to Tamil Nadu in a ship — although insiders deny it as rumours.

The Billa 2 tagline says, ‘Every man has a past. Every Don, a history!’ The makers also claim that the shooting for the film is complete.

The cinematography was handled by R.D. Rajasekar and the mix of Yuvan Shankar Raja and Ajith has already created huge expectations. The film is anticipated to hit cinema halls by May end.
